The Green Thumb

Tyler and Phil got to finally plant the trees Tyler planted from seed last spring. When the maple tree in the neighbor's yard behind us was dropping it's whirly birds, Ty wanted to plant a few to see if they'd grow. She pealed the outer layer (the whirly part) and planted the seeds in a little pot. Would you believe they sprouted and grew like crazy. We transplanted the three saplings to three large pots mid-summer where they continued to thrive. We were waiting to plant them in the ground until fall when the ground is softer, the weather is cool, and when "they say" it is the optimal time to plant.

It'll be fun to watch Tyler's grow as she does. She's already thinking about what kind of trees she wants to try to grow next spring.
