Fantastic Saturday!

Today we visited Richard Young Forest Preserve in Yorkville for the first time and it was so cool! It was a gorgeous fall day at gorgeous nature haven. During the walk we met a couple that told us about Geocashing and it's really fun. Geocashing is a real world, outdoor treasure hunt using a smart phone GPS app. Basically, you're looking for previously hidden containers that other "Geocashers" have hidden. Inside the hidden boxes you may find little trinkets to take (and leave something else), or perhaps there's just a log to sign and date so you can see how many people have found the box previously. Now, we had a lot of fun looking for two hidden treasures, but never actually found either of them. Looks like it'll take a little more experience (or a better phone app) to actually find the objects. We had a lot of fun searching anyway.  The cool thing is that a lot of people are into Geocashing, so the hidden objects are everywhere!  We're excited to get out and try it again soon!
