Happy 1 month Birthday Tyler Cay!

Hard to believe she's 4 weeks old today.  On some days January 27th seems like just yesterday and on other days it seems like a year ago.

 

Re: her heart arrhythmia, her steroid treatment (to suppress her immune system and reduce inflammation) and IVIG treatment (immunoglobulin [anti-body] dose to hopefully knock out possible viral infections) are completed.  She showed mild improvement after the steroid treatment and her halter monitor results after the IVIG treatment are not yet read/analyzed.  We're hopeful she continues to show a reduced occurrence of the PVCs (premature ventricular contractions).  One of the electro physiologists seems to be encouraged by her progress and notes that she may have what is called 'benign idiopathic premature ventricular contractions'.  We've been informed this diagnosis would be the best case scenario because the heart condition goes away within the first year.  And go figure, they don't know what causes it, don't know what fixes it, and it's rare.  If the odds are long we seem to hit on it every time.  Vegas anyone?

 

Re: her chylothorax condition (cause of her hydrops), Tyler is on day 12 of no eating.  She has 9 more days to go (March 6th) until the docs re-introduce food.  Then we'll see how her lymphatic system reacts and the docs will re-asses whether the  tear/breach/leak has healed on it's own.

 

Jill and I are encouraged by her progress.  She is the light of our lives and we can't wait to bring her home.
