Update from Daddy

February 9th: Tyler and Mommy

Tyler continues to get better each day. Today we received results from two cardiac tests. The first being a Feb. 8th echocardiogram, which is a detailed ultrasound of her heart. Ty's had weak ventriculation, or pumping motion, since birth so they order this test periodically. The results show her ventriculation has improved since her last echo 5 days ago. Ty also had a monitor on her heart, called a halter monitor, on Feb. 7th. This monitor helps the doctors assess her arythmic heart rate. They noticed a decrease in this arythmia since her last test a week or so ago. Both of these tests are encouraging.

The fluid draining from Ty's chest tube showed a notable increase over the last 24 hours. This is the first increase since Feb. 5th. The doctors are going to put her on a medication called 'octreotide'. We're told this medication helps stop bleeding in adult patients and seems to also stop fluid drainage on babies with chylothorax.

Both Jill and I continue to be amazed by the strength of Tyler.
